Baldrige Express or Baldrige Explorer eSurvey
The Baldrige
Express and Baldrige Explorer are Internet-based self assessment
surveys based on the Baldrige
Criteria for Performance Excellence. The survey measures
performance on a wide range of key indicators and helps evaluate
key processes, systems, and results. It identifies organizational
strengths, deployment gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
What
are the benefits of the eSurvey approach?
- The
Baldrige eSurveys are online, Web-based, easily accessible
from any computer, 24/7
- Cost-effective
compared with alternative approaches
- Engage
employees at all levels of the organization
- Receive
both internal and external feedback when combined with the
DQA process
- Less
investment of time and quicker response and feedback
What
does the Baldrige Express/Explorer eSurvey consist of?
The survey
covers all seven categories of the Baldrige
Criteria. The demographic portion of the survey is customized
to your organizational needs. It consists of 49 questions
and takes approximately 1 hour for each employee to complete.
A minimum of 25 employees must be surveyed. When the survey
data has been collected, an automated Performance Indicator
Feedback Report is generated and sent to you in three business
days.
How
can the eSurvey be used to apply for the Delaware Quality
Award?
The Baldrige
Express is an easy, online survey that provides an alternative
to the written application that is generally required for
a Baldrige application. When used to apply for the Delaware
Quality Award at the Commitment or Merit levels, it affords
a number of extra benefits, including
- Review
and assessment of the Performance Indicator Feedback Report
by a team of trained examiners
- A
two-day Site Visit by a team of trained Baldrige Examiners
- Evaluation
of your organization by a panel of expert judges
- An
Executive Summary of the Baldrige Express Report indicating
key organizational strengths and opportunities for improvement
- A
half-day Executive Briefing by the program manager, an examiner,
and a judge (optional, for an additional fee0
What’s
the difference between the Baldrige Express and Baldrige Explorer?
The Baldrige
Express and Explorer eSurveys both cover all seven
categories addressed in the Baldrige Criteria; however,
the Explorer uses answering options that more closely follow
the wording in the Baldrige Criteria and allows employees
more opportunities for qualitative statements. As a result
the Baldrige Express requires less time to fill out, about
1 hour per employee, while the Baldrige Explorer typically
takes 2 hours per employees to complete.
- The
Baldrige Express eSurvey is recommended
for organizations at the early stages of their quality journey.
It is accepted in lieu of a written application for the
Delaware Quality Award of Merit and the Delaware Quality
Commitment Award applicants.
- The
Baldrige Explorer eSurvey is recommended
for organizations that have experience using the Baldrige
Criteria. Applicants for the Gore Award of Excellence must
use the Baldrige Explorer as the eSurvey option.
Are
there other requirements if we apply for the Delaware Quality
Award too?
Yes,
in addition to the Baldrige Express/Explorer eSurvey, organizations
are required to submit an Organizational Profile, host the
examiner team during the 1-3 day site visit, and provide information
on their business results. (The Organization Profile is limited
to five written pages or use of an expanded Baldrige template
that is available through the DQA office.)
