Course
description
This Institute
will provide many resources to help both new and experienced
teachers confidently teach a course in AP European History.
The course will address traditional concerns: structuring
an AP course, curriculum, student enrollment, selections of
textbook, primary source readings and supplemental materials.
Preparation of the students for the AP Exam, and specific
strategies for the document based question and the free response
questions will be another focus of the Institute. The use
of various methods and assessments and the structure and grading
of the exam using the most recent exams with the specific
rubrics and standards will be explored.
Technology
in the classroom for both the teacher and the student will
be an important part of the course. Resources and ideas that
make this course more manageable for the teacher and the student
will be addressed. The AP Audit will also be discussed. Participants
will be requested to bring a best practice to share and we
will also work on unit development of the various topics in
the course.
