Business, management, and performance excellence

Using Balanced Scorecard and Strategy Maps

In 1992, Harvard professors Robert Kaplan and David Norton introduced Balanced Scorecard (BSC) as a complement to traditional performance management systems. With the addition of Strategy Maps, this measurement tool has evolved into a strategic management system that can help you achieve and sustain a strategic advantage over competitors.

The speed of business in the 21st century is getting faster and faster. Gone are the days when a strategic plan can be created every three to five years -- executives need to constantly think ahead and be able to adjust to changing conditions. The Balanced Scorecard is the perfect vehicle to make this possible. The focus on lead measures provides an ever-reaching look into the future, and the combination of financial and non-financial measures gives the forward-thinking executive the data needed to balance the needs of today and tomorrow. No matter the size of the organization or the type of business you are in, the balanced scorecard can help pave the road to the future.

This two-day workshop will show you how to apply and adapt the BSC system at your company or organization. Specifically, you will learn how to

  • Use Strategy Maps to organize and align strategic objectives
  • Adjust lag and lead measures that make sense for your business
  • Identify and deploy key strategic initiatives
  • Monitor the ongoing execution of your strategic plan

You’ll benefit most from this seminar if you are a...

  • Senior leader or manager responsible for making strategic decisions
  • Chief financial officer or controller
  • Executive, manager, or leader accountable for operational performance and achieving strategic objectives
  • Manager or leader who is responsible for your company’s performance management system
  • Coordinator of a project-based improvement program, such as Six Sigma
  • Member of a strategic planning team
