American
English has become the essential language of the global marketplace.
Many professionals who have learned English as a second language
have a good command of the spoken word but need additional
instruction in business writing to communicate clearly, effectively,
and concisely. When employees hone their skills and gain confidence
in written business English, benefits accrue to both the individual
and the employer. Employees have an advantage in their careers,
while their employers find that the improvement in skills
of their foreign workforce makes the organization more competitive
globally.
Instruction
for this course is provided by the University’s English Language
Institute, one of the top ten Intensive English programs in
the country. The University of Delaware's English
Language Institute (ELI) is fully accredited by the Commission
on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA)—one of
only 50 such programs in the country, and one of only 12 in
the nation to have received a 10-year accreditation. Students
are in direct contact with knowledgeable and experienced instructors
who specialize in the field of business English as a second
language.
