Public

Choosing and Working with a Consultant
Designed
for administrators and board members of community-based organizations,
community development corporations (CDCs), faith-based community
development organizations (CDOs) and other nonprofit organizations,
this two day institute focuses on working with a consultant.
Identifying, selecting, managing, communicating with, and
evaluating the work of a consultant are key aspects discussed.
As organizations
engage in project planning and are ready to hire a project
manager, the need to contract with specialists or technical
assistance providers to fill or meet skills gaps is often
required for the program to be a success. This course addresses
these key issues
- Factors
to consider in determining if a consultant is needed
- Preparing
your organization (staff and board) to benefit from and
work with a consultant
- The
need and use of Requests for Proposal and Requests for Qualifications
- Meeting
- Factors
to weigh in the selection of a consultant
- Supervision
or management of a consultant or contractee
This
new institute, which was created in response to numerous requests
from past community development institute graduates, is taught
by a seasoned practitioner.
