Grant Writing and Resource Development
Today's
economic and political climate makes resource and fund development
one of the most critical issues executive directors and boards
of nonprofits and communitybased organizations must address.
As corporate and philanthropic foundations are making fewer
awards and giving less, board members and directors of nonprofits
are facing major organizational and financial issues that
require new approaches to grant writing.
This
newly-expanded community development institute is designed
to equip administrators, program managers, and board members
with the skill sets and the know-how to become more effective
in raising the funds needed to support the vital community
development programs and social services their organizations
provide. It also incorporates an in-depth examination of resource
planning which is vital to the sustainability that community
development organizations strive to achieve.
Skill
areas to be addressed in the institute include
- Formulating
an effective and diversified funding plan
- Developing
case statements
- Structuring
Web-based campaigns
- The
steps to follow in developing a grant proposal
- Writing
appeal letters
- Developing
organizational and program budgets
- Using
the Internet to conduct research and identify potential
sources of support
- Determining
strategies to plan unique, low-cost special events
