the Nonprofit Management Certificate
This
certificate provides a comprehensive, systematic, and integrated
approach to managing a nonprofit organization. It includes
training in these key areas:
- Strategic
planning—how to keep your organization moving and
on the right course
- Technology—how
to get the most out of available networking and Internet
resources
- Controlling
finances—how to produce good reports and what can
be learned from analyzing them
- Fostering
leadership—using multicultural teams and conflict
resolution strategies to your advantage
- Developing
human resources—how to best use the people you have
and where to find the ones you need
- Marketing
and fundraising—how to identify markets and donors
and when
to get your board involved
- Conducting
effective advocacy—how to get your message across
to policy makers and have an impact on government action
- Designing
and evaluating programs—what programs work and why
they
meet your goals and objectives
Who
should participate?
You will
benefit from participating in this program if you are a:
- Staff
member of a small- to mid-sized nonprofit organization
- Board
member or trustee of a nonprofit organization
Class
size is limited to 25 participants, and priority is given
to registrants who currently hold a management or board position
in a nonprofit organization.
Faculty
Conducted
by University of Delaware faculty, executives of nonprofit
organizations, and other management experts, the program develops
professional skills and teaches practical techniques to enhance
your job performance in a nonprofit setting.
Course
schedule and location
The Nonprofit
Management Certificate is awarded upon successful completion
of one 16-week course. The next offering of the program is
planned for Spring 2009 (16 full-day seminars). Classes
are held at the Community Services Building, Wilmington.
