Continuing Education (CEND) students requesting disability
accommodations
A
non-matriculated student with a disability should contact
the ACCESS Center as soon as possible after deciding to take
a course as a Continuing Education student as some accommodations
require a considerable amount of time for to complete the
approval and/or implementation process.
- General
information and documentation guidelines can be obtained
by making an appointment to meet with an ACCESS Center counselor.
To reach the ACCESS Center for information and assistance,
call 302/831-2741 (voice), 302/831-2789 (fax), or TDD 302/831-6367.
- All
information concerning inquiries is confidential.
Submit
complete documentation
- For
nonmatriculated students who are attending other colleges/universities,
a copy of that institution's letter authorizing the accommodation(s)
and a list of the approved accommodation(s) is required.
- For
students who are attending high school and receiving accommodations,
a copy of your IEP, 504 Plan or Transition Plan, and high
school transcript is required.
- Documentation
guidelines will be given to the student at his/her meeting
with the counselor.
- Documentation
guidelines can be picked up at the ACCESS Center, or may
be downloaded here as Word documents:
Review
process
- ADHD
and Learning Disability documentation must be reviewed by
the Documentation Review Committee (DRC).
- Disabilities
other than ADHD and Learning Disability will be reviewed
by our Disability Counselor in collaboration with the ADA
office.
Outcome
- After
complete documentation is received and reviewed, a follow-up
appointment with a counselor is required to complete necessary
paperwork.
- Accommodations
must be requested for each semester/session that you attend.
This can be done by making an appointment with your counselor
before the start of each semester/session.
