Student residency status is determined by the University. In general, to qualify as a Delaware resident for tuition purposes, a student must have been domiciled in Delaware for at least 12 consecutive full months as of the first day of classes in the semester or session for which the classification is sought. The student must also be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident (green) card holder.
If you have been a University of Delaware student in the past and your residency status has changed, or if you have other questions regarding residency status, please contact the Registrar’s Office at registrar@udel.edu, 302-831-1554, or click here to review the University's policies regarding residency classification.
If you are a nonresident distance learning student enrolled for the majority of your coursework through UD Online, you may wish to verify whether you are eligible for the nonresident site participant tuition rate. However, if you are sure that you do not qualify for either the Delaware resident or site participant tuition rate, then you would be considered an individual nonresident.
All students who are not testing at a Delaware testing location will be using the ProctorU.com online exam proctoring service. It it the responsibility of each student to finalize all testing schedules with ProctorU, following the exam dates on the syllabus of their UD Online course. If you have questions about UD Online exams, please write to udonline-exams@udel.edu.
