Performance
Management Certificate
Curriculum
The Performance
Management Certificate consists of three modules. All three
must be completed to earn the certificate.
Getting
Great Results: A Roadmap to Excellence
This
introductory module provides an overview of the key components
for developing a quality system that fits your organization
and can deliver positive results. The workshop focuses on
proven methods and current research, including a discussion
of Six Sigma methodology, the PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act)
cycle, the Baldrige National Quality Award Criteria, ISO 9000,
and Lean Manufacturing. It lays the groundwork for understanding
how standards of excellence and management tools such as Six
Sigma support high performance systems.
Continuous Improvement Methods: Using Six Sigma
The core
module, consisting of 40 hours of instruction, focuses on
models of continuous improvement and problem solving and how
to apply them in the real world. The Six Sigma DMAIC (Define,
Measure, Analyze, Implement, Control) methodology is used
as a framework.
Presentations
on measurement tools and interactive exercises are integrated
throughout the module. You will use the DMAIC model to initiate
a Six Sigma process improvement project during this phase
of the program.
Implementation and Project Presentations
During
the final module, the focus is on applying management techniques
in the workplace. Participants will present the results of
their process improvement projects.
