Meet the instructor: Dewey M. Caron
Dewey
Caron is professor of apiculture at the University of Delaware's
College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, in the Department
of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology. He earned a B.S. in zoology
from the University of Vermont, M.S. in ecology from the University
of Tennessee, and Ph.D. in apiculture from Cornell University.
His research
interests include pollination biology; bee biology and culture;
pests, and predators and diseases of honey bees.
Dr. Caron is also an extension entomologist for the University's
Cooperative Extension program in the topics of ornamental
insect biology and control, and youth entomology. He is a
past chairman of the Board of Eastern Apiculture Society;
past president of the Entomological Society of America, Eastern
Branch; adjunct advisor to Delaware Beekeepers Association;
and editor of the newsletter Newsy Bee. He is a also
a frequent speaker and seminar instructor for local/state/regional
beekeeping organizations.
