Students enrolled in an online course will receive an email each semester indicating their exam location and/or testing method. The course syllabus will also list all required assignments, including exams.

GRADUATE ENGINEERING EXAMS

NON-DELAWARE RESIDENTS—testing via ProctorU

proctorUAll distance learning students who are not living in Delaware will take their UD Online exams via ProctorU.com.

ProctorU is a secure, live, online proctoring service that allows exam takers to complete their assessment at home. Students log in using their own microphone and webcam and pay a per-exam fee. Visit ProctorU.com to see how it works and review technical requirements.

Full-time campus-based University of Delaware students do not use ProctorU for their online exams.

Testing policies & procedures in Dover
  1. All cell phones and personal items are to be stored in the locker/coat room.
  2. Any clothing worn into the testing center must remain on during entire exam.
  3. Guests and children are not permitted in the testing center.
  4. Pets are not permitted in the testing center, with the exception of service animals.
  5. Studying is not permitted in the testing center.
  6. Do not put your social security number on anything.
  7. If you leave the testing center during your exam, your exam is considered complete.
  8. Read the pink/blue cover sheet. Make sure your name appears on the top left side of the form; Students may only access an exam while in the testing center, nothing else.
  9. When your exam is complete, quietly bring the pink/blue cover sheet to the proctor and sign the pink/blue cover sheet before leaving.
  10. For exams which permit notes, please keep your papers confined to your workstation.
  11. Do not bring food or drinks in the testing center. No gum is permitted.
  12. No bathroom breaks are permitted.

For Computer Based Exams Only

  1. Log on to “Sakai” or “Canvas”
  2. “Save” each answer
  3. Click “Submit for Grading”
    • receive ‘warning message’
    • click “Submit for Grading” again to submit your exam
  4. Log out of “Sakai” or “Canvas”

For Paper Based Exams Only

  1. The clocks located in the testing center are provided as a general reference.
  2. For exact time note proctor instructions and time warning.
  3. All Scantrons must be filled out when time is called

NEWARK testing location

NEWARK EXAMS
Walk-in testing Wed.-Thurs. (10 a.m.-8 p.m.); Fri. (10 a.m.-5 p.m.)

UD Online Resource Center, 850 Library Ave. (directions, UD Shuttle recommendations)

Students who test at the UD Online Resource Center test on a walk-in basis with a photo ID during the week specified on the Exam Schedule (above) for a particular course. Students will receive their exam location in their UDel email. If students have issues with the location chosen for them, they must contact udonline-exams@udel.edu to discuss changing their location. All exams must be taken at the same location during the semester.

  • Bring a photo ID or you will not be permitted to take your exam.
  • You do not have to schedule a specific testing time. All Newark exams are scheduled by exam week, and then students choose a day to walk in and take their exams. However, there is often a wait on Thursdays and Fridays due to the number of students who choose the end of the week for their exam day.

Parking at the UD Online Resource Center, Newark
  • Free parking is available at the UD Online Resource Center, Newark.
  • Do not park in reserved spaces for other businesses located at 850 Library Avenue.
  • Students who park in reserved spaces may be towed or contribute to future parking charges.
Student personal items: CAUTION
  • Small lockers available—Small lockers are provided for students to store personal items while they are completing exams.
  • Large items discouraged—Large laptops or bookbags cannot be accommodated, and Testing Center staff cannot hold these items.
  • No watches—No watches are permitted in the Testing Center.
  • Missing or stolen items—UD and Testing Center staff are not responsible for missing or stolen items.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

High school students participating in a UD Online course should write to udonline-exams@udel.edu and indicate the high school where you will be testing. Please include your name, the course you are taking, and your phone number.


Student identity verification procedures—All students’ identities are confirmed by photo ID prior to sitting for each proctored exam. Student privacy during a proctored exam at a distance is maintained through direct communication and the use of a secure testing service. Students testing at a distance are informed through our website and through email that there are additional costs associated with taking a proctored exam through ProctorU . UD Online staff, distance testing proctors and UD’s Academic Technology Services via the Central Authentication System (CAS) ensure the consistent application of the above student verification procedures.
