Maryland: refund policy, student complaint process

Refund policy

The University of Delaware’s online programs are registered in the State of Maryland under the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

For Maryland online students, the University of Delaware’s online course refund policy follows the State of Maryland’s refund policy as outlined by Maryland’s Higher Education Commission. If the University of Delaware’s refund policy is more beneficial to Maryland students, the University of Delaware will follow its own refund policy. The minimum refund that the University of Delaware will pay to a Maryland student who withdraws or is terminated after completing only a portion of a course, program, or term within the applicable billing period is as follows:

  • Less than 10% completed—90% refund
  • 10% up to but not including 20% completed—80% refund
  • 20% up to but not including 30% completed—60% refund
  • 30% up to but not including 40% completed—40% refund
  • 40% up to but not including 60% completed—20% refund
  • More than 60% completed—no refund

A refund due to a Maryland student shall be based on the date of withdrawal or termination and paid within 60 days from the date of withdrawal or termination.

Please note: The University of Delaware has filed for registration with the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Should a student file a complaint, the University of Delaware will be subjected “to investigation . . . by the Office of the Attorney General or the Maryland Higher Education Commission.”
