UD Online = UD

Course requirements for UD Online/distance learning courses are the same as for on-campus courses. Participation in a UD Online course does not affect a student’s classification, and there is no distinction on student transcripts or an earned diploma between on-campus and UD Online courses and degrees. Only the delivery format of UD Online courses is different. “I can tell you that UD Online students are getting exactly the same version of a course as the in-class students, and they’re responsible for the same information as the on-campus students,” explains one UD Online instructor.

Distance Learning Format

UD Online students access their courses on the Web through easy-to-use learning management systems. The University of Delaware uses Canvas as its primary course management tool to deliver UD Online courses. Courses may include all or some of the following instructional delivery methods: videostreamed class lectures, video clips, audio components, guided readings, chat rooms, interactive web activities and threaded discussions. In addition, instructors are available to assist students according to their course policy either via email, by phone or in person.
