Students who reside, work, or participate in internships in Wilmington may need transportation from UD’s Newark campus. The table below lists various transportation options for traveling between Newark and Wilmington.

SEPTA Train (Weekdays only)

  • To Wilmington: Five trains leave Newark in the morning (the first at 6:22 am and the last at 8:58 am).
    • Pick Up: Newark Train Station, STAR Campus
    • Drop Off: Wilmington Amtrak Station
    • Cost: ~$4 each way
    • Travel Time: 20 minutes
    • Parking: Star Campus

    • Key Details:  This is a commuter schedule. Trains not available in mid-day. No SEPTA between Newark and Wilmington on weekends.
  • From Wilmington: Five trains leave Wilmington for Newark beginning in late afternoon (the first at 3:55 pm and the last at 7:42 pm)
    • Pick Up: Wilmington Amtrak Station
    • Drop Off: Newark Train Station, STAR Campus
    • Cost: ~$4 each way
    • Travel Time: 20 minutes

DART Bus – 3 Lines

  • Line 16 (I95; Express; rush hours only) 
  • Line 33 (to Amtrak Station)

  • Pick Up: Newark Bus Station
  • Cost: ~$4 each way
  • Travel Time: Express: <1 hour. Local lines: 1-2 hours

  • Key Details: Express bus is on a commuter schedule. Local lines can be found on the DART website. Must use exact change (quarters or dollars) OR DARTCARD.

Taxi

  • On call.
  • Cost: $50-65 each way

Ride Sharing – UBER. LYFT does not currently operate in New Castle County.

UD Motor Pool – 1/2 day; daily, weekly, monthly
