Mission Statement

The UD Online Testing Center administers online, on-campus and professional exams in a technologically-advanced and secure environment. We uphold academic integrity and support the university community by providing convenient assessment solutions for students, faculty and local residents. The UD Online Testing Center adheres to the National College Testing Association (NCTA) Professional Standards and Guidelines.

Exam Procedures

The course syllabus will list all required assignments, including exams. Students enrolled in an online course will receive an email each semester indicating their exam location and/or testing method. If students have issues with the location chosen for them, they must contact udonline-exams@udel.edu to discuss changing their location prior to the beginning of the semester. All exams must be taken at the same location during the semester. For more about exam location assignment, see Exam Locations.

Testing Center Hours

Rescheduling Exams

To reschedule an exam that is outside of the normal testing week, it is the student’s responsibility to:

  • Obtain instructor’s approval. The instructor must confirm approval by email to udonline-exams@udel.edu.
  • Contact UD Online to schedule a new exam time, 302-831-1500.

Rescheduled/makeup exams are offered on Wednesdays, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. If you are trying to reschedule an exam within the same week of the original exam, please cancel the exam in registerblast and then reschedule. If the time of the exam has passed, you will not be able to cancel it on your own and will need to call our office to reschedule.

Student Identity Verification Procedures

All students’ identities are confirmed by a valid government-issued photo ID prior to sitting for each proctored exam. Student privacy during a proctored exam at a distance is maintained through direct communication and the use of a secure testing service. UD Online staff, distance testing proctors and UD’s Academic Technology Services via the Central Authentication System (CAS) ensure the consistent application of the above student verification procedures.

All distance learning students who are not living in Delaware will take their UD Online exams via ProctorU.com. Full-time, campus-based University of Delaware students take their exams at the UD Online Testing Center. There are technical requirements and additional costs associated with taking a proctored exam through ProctorU.   • Storage bins are provided for cell phones and small personal items.
  • Be punctual—A student’s allotted exam time will be reduced by the number of minutes the student is late.

NEWARK EXAMS

  • Appointments are necessary, and you must show a valid government-issued photo ID every time you come to test. Exams are scheduled through the UD Online Exam Portal.
  • Test-takers must follow the testing center’s COVID-19 social distancing protocol if taking an exam on-site.
  • All exams must be completed by closing time.
  • All pens, pencils, scrap paper and calculators as allowable by the professor are available at the Testing Center. Students may bring their own whiteboards and markers as an alernative to scrap paper.
  • Bring a valid government-issued photo ID or you will not be permitted to take your exam.

Getting There

  • UD Shuttle Bus Route (use the School Lane Apartments stop)
  • Parking
    • Free parking is available.
    • Do not park in reserved spaces for other businesses located at 850 Library Avenue. Students who park in reserved spaces may be towed or fined.

Student personal items: CAUTION

  • Small lockers available—Small lockers are provided for students to store personal items while they are completing exams.
  • Large items discouraged—Large laptops or bookbags cannot be accommodated, and Testing Center staff cannot hold these items.
  • No watches or fitness trackers—No watches or fitness trackers are permitted in the Testing Center.
  • No jackets or coats—No jackets, hoodies, coats, scarves, bandanas, hats or sunglasses are permitted in the Testing Center.
  • Removal of suspicious items—Testing Center staff have the right to request any suspicious items (besides the ones specifically listed) be removed at any time.
  • Missing or stolen items—UD and Testing Center staff are not responsible for missing or stolen items.

High school students participating in a UD Online course should write to udonline-exams@udel.edu and indicate the high school where you will be testing. Please include your name, the course you are taking, and your phone number.

THIS SERVICE IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. The Newark Testing Center has limited capacity to proctor exams for students taking courses at other institutions. If you are interested in this service, please contact udonline-exams@udel.edu for availability and pricing.
